Thugs of Hinduston- An epic fantasy adventure, the most awaited film of the year directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya of Dhoom 3 fame, Produced by Aditya Chopra, under Yash Raj banner this film is slated to be released on Nov 8 th 2018. It is the most ambitious project under Yash Raj banner and the most expensive film made in Bollywood and is said to have cost Rs.300 Crores (42 million). Contrary to initial reports, the film is not based on Philip Meadows Taylor's 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug; the film tells a fictional story based on historical events. Vijay Krishna Acharya links this misunderstanding to the word thug that appears in both the works.

Looking at the trailer it looks like the film is based in 1795, British India and takes us back to the era of pirates, where the Indian bandits known as thugs posed a serious challenge to the expanding British East India Company which ruled large parts of India. The film stars Katrina Kaif as Suraiyya (dancer), Fatima Sana Shaikh as Zafira (brave and an expert in bow and arrow), and Amitabh Bachchan as Khudabaksh Azaad (king of thugs) and Aamir Khan as Firangi Mallah (a small thug from awadh). Khudabaksh Azaad is a huge threat to British East India Company as he aspires to free the country from the British. Alarmed, John Clive (played by Lloyd Owen), a British commander, sends Firangi Mallah ( Aamir Khan ), a small-time Thug from  Awadh , to infiltrate and be their jasoos. Aamir Khan grew his beard and hair, got ear and nose piercings just for this role. This has marked the first collaboration between Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Bachchan and Khan were supposed to work in a movie Rishta in 1990 but the film got shelved.

Ever since the trailer release, the movie has already created a lot of buzz. The trailer was a spectacle to the eyes and we only imagine how the rest of the movie will be.

What caught my attention in the trailer were the two mammoth life size ships. It appeared in multiple scenes and reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean and seems to be the integral part of the film. The giant ships were build off the coast of Malta  took 1000 people to build it, including international designers and ship makers and the whole process lasted for a year.

Clearly, there is much to look forward to, especially onsidering that both Thugs of Hindostan will be released in at least three languages, video clips were released by Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan speaking in Tamil and Telugu urging the people to go watch the movie. I feel TOH will be the biggest spectacle that Hindi cinema has ever witnessed and I can’t want to watch it.

Fun facts - Hrithik Roshan was approached to play the role of Aamir Khan but he suggested changes to the script. Later Acharya approached Aamir khan who suggested no changes at the time and agreed to do the film thus replacing Hrithik Roshan.
Shraddha Kapoor had given costume look test and auditioned for the film. Aamir khan suggested the name of Fatima Sana Sheikh who eagerly agreed to do the film and thus replaced Shraddha Kapoor.
