A Turn In Life

When life took a turn
It was like being locked up
In a prison,
A prison with cold steel walls
And eternal darkness

I experienced life with
Friends;
Some who stabbed the knife
Of treachery through
My soul-
And some who
Healed my wounds
through love
and affection-
My life took its turn

Deaths of loved ones
Kept me awake for
The long, dark hours of the night,
Remembering their memories
Was like freshening up those
Old, deep
Deep wounds-
My life took its turn

Lies
Lies which hit me so hard
That I was unable to
Stand back up;
They weren’t told by any strangers,
They were told by my own friends,
Who once,
Once were loving
And truthful to
Me-
My life took its turn

I made friends and
lost them
This was the cycle
I faced when I
Moved
Making new friends
Wasn’t a big deal,
Though losing them,
Tormented me from
The inside-
My life took its turn

Though,
Changing it now
Won’t help,
It’s too late-
My life took its turn
and I am
Still like that same, old
Prisoner locked up
In a prison
A prison with cold steel walls
And eternal darkness
